Southern Style String Beans

A great way to kick up a side of green beans

Ingredients

makes 4 servings

  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • 1 pound French green beans
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon chopped garlic
  • 1 teaspoon chopped shallot

Cooking Steps

  1. Bring a small pot of water to a boil; season water with salt and pepper or your favorite seasoning
  2. Place green beans in water and cook for 12 to 15 minutes or until tender. Remove beans from pot and place in ice water. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a sauté pan melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and shallots; sauté lightly. Add string beans, turning to coat. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve string beans as a side dish.
  4. Notes: for the best results, make sure the water is boiling before you add the beans.
