Southern Style String Beans
A great way to kick up a side of green beans
Ingredients
makes 4 servings
- Salt
- Black pepper
- 1 pound French green beans
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon chopped garlic
- 1 teaspoon chopped shallot
Cooking Steps
- Bring a small pot of water to a boil; season water with salt and pepper or your favorite seasoning
- Place green beans in water and cook for 12 to 15 minutes or until tender. Remove beans from pot and place in ice water. Drain and set aside.
- In a sauté pan melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and shallots; sauté lightly. Add string beans, turning to coat. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve string beans as a side dish.
- Notes: for the best results, make sure the water is boiling before you add the beans.
